Then:
Established in 1990 by Andy Mullins and Robert Niles.
Andy was a design student at OSU/Okmulgee. Half-way through school Andy became a believer and started doing design work for his local church. Robert, Andy's cousin, challenged him to start the company and offered a computer and some financial support to get things rolling. With that they started designing shirts for local churches for summer camp and retreats. The first couple of years the business was little more than a hobby working only with a handful of churches.
Robert went to be with the Lord about a year later after a long battle in the hospital from an auto accident. He is greatly missed. While in the Hospital Robert challenged a friend, Steve Streeter to take on the roll of marketing/ finance and to partner with Andy. The two worked closely over the next few years to establish the company as a respectable business doing work for over 200 churches. Shepherd Boy became a place to find quality, cutting-edge, custom t-shirts and graphic design.
In the Fall of 1998 Andy's oldest son was diagnosed with luekemia. The families move to St Judes Hospital in Memphis, TN separated the Shepherd Boy team for 9 months. Andy worked part time from the hospital while newly hired artist Tim Holden did a great job and carried the bulk of the design work. After a successful bone marrow transplant, the Mullins family returned to Tulsa. Months after returning Andy dissolved his partnership with Steve moved forward as the sole owner of the company.
In the fall of 2004 Andy agreed to be Creative Director for Stuph Clothing in Nashville, TN designing merch for Christian bands. The Shepherd Boy team continued to do work with churches and camps while Andy designed merch for over 60 Christian bands in Nashville. In his absence from Tulsa the designers created over 40 professional snowboards, several concert posters and many new looks for the Shepherd Boy portfolio. In the fall of 2005 Andy resigned as creative director for Stuph Clothing and returned to Tulsa with a renewed vision for Shepherd Boy.
Now:
We are a Graphic Design company located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We've been around so long that we're actually celebrating 15 years of service. In fact, we're probably celebrating as you read this. We've been around for a decade and a half because we've been committed from the beginning to creating relevant and innovative graphic design and t-shirts for ministries.
Over the past 15 years, we've been able to grow one of the best design teams in the country. Our designers have a sound understanding of design, Christian ministry and the current artistic trends. This understanding allows us to apply our unique styles to markets that tend to be on the driving end of pop culture.
Most notably, in the past year alone our artists have designed over 40 snowboards as well as merchandise for Christian musicians like Jeremy Camp, Point of Grace, Falling Up, KJ52, Rachel Lampa, and more... It's not difficult to recognize that extreme sports and the music entertainment business are trend setting industries. The confidence that those artists and companies have placed in us is a testament to our ability to define what's cool, rather than simply copy it.
